A hotel booking journey moves through several checks before the traveller has a confirmed reservation. The exact sequence depends on the supplier. This guide explains common stages and the workflow documented for the SRDV Hotel API.
1. Search for availability
The traveller or agent selects a destination, dates, rooms and guests. The platform sends supported search criteria to the supplier and displays the results returned for that request. Results can include hotel information, room options and prices, but the detail available at this stage depends on the API.
Availability changes. A room shown in search results should not be treated as permanently held or guaranteed.
2. Review the hotel and room
The user selects a property and examines room types, occupancy, meal plans, taxes and cancellation conditions where available. A platform may combine relatively stable hotel content, such as descriptions and images, with live availability. Data sources and update rules differ between providers.
3. Recheck the selected option
Some providers require or recommend a price or availability check before booking. If conditions or price change, the application should present current information and obtain the required agreement before continuing. Follow the supplier's documented workflow rather than assuming all APIs use the same step.
4. Send booking details and verify the outcome
The application collects the required guest details and follows the applicable booking and payment sequence. Record supplier references and check the reservation status. Payment success, request submission and supplier confirmation are separate events.
If the request times out or returns an uncertain status, use the provider's supported booking-status process before retrying. Repeating an unresolved request without checking can create duplicate reservations. The operations team should have a defined escalation path.
5. Support the booking afterwards
Where supported, retrieve the booking and handle cancellation or other servicing actions according to the booking's conditions and the supplier's rules. A cancellation request, supplier cancellation confirmation and customer refund are distinct steps.
The SRDV Hotel API sequence
The published SRDV Hotel API documentation describes Hotel Search → Hotel Info → Hotel Room → Block Room → Book, and includes a Hotel Cancel operation. Consult the current reference and account instructions for required fields, authentication and enabled operations.
